how to delete rows in excel that go on forever

Jen__L

Hello Chuck! I'm Jen, an independent advisor and a fellow Microsoft user like you. I'd be happy to help you out with this issue.

To delete unwanted rows and columns in your spreadsheet, just simply highlight the row or column by clicking the marker on top of the column or to the left of the row, just right-click it and then click delete.

Hope this helps you.

If you have any questions, please let me know and I'd be glad to assist you further.

Thank you and Best Regards!
Jen :)

Jen_L,

Thanks for the response but I do know how to delete a few rows or columns like described, but I am asking about the 100 columns and rows. How can I delete all of them and do it one time? Is there a way to start on like column M and highlight all the way to end to delete them one time?

Thanks,

Chuck

Hello again Chuck,

Thanks for clarifying the issue. If the columns you want to delete start from column M, first, click the starting cell (say, M1), then hold Shift while you click the ending cell (let's say Z1000). Then, it will automatically highlight the entire columns, now you can right-click the highlighted columns and click delete Entire Column.

Another way is to use the Name Box at the left end of the Formula Bar.
Click the content of the Name Box. Type the range to be selected (e.g M1:Z1000). Press return. Then delete the highlighted columns. You can do the same method when deleting rows as well wherein you don't have to manually highlight the extra rows/columns that you want to delete.

I hope this information helps.

If you need further assistance, please let me know and I'd be glad assist you further.

Regards,
Jen :)
